You can just buy a boat in the UK, you do not need to hold any licenses in order to buy a boat. However, we strongly recommend you have enough experience and safety measures onboard with you to remain safe on the water. Courses such a Power Boat Level 2, Day skipper will give you a good starting point to help you gain confidence on the water. Qualifications and proof of experience may be necessary when applying for insurance
Do you need Insurance to Skipper a Motorboat in the UK?
