Pride of Lions Roars into Portsmouth 100 Celebrations

A striking pride of lion sculptures is taking centre stage as part of Portsmouth’s year-long Portsmouth 100 celebrations.

The colourful sculptures, displayed across the city are bringing together art, community and local heritage as Portsmouth marks 100 years since receiving city status. Each of the 45 lions has its own unique design, encouraging residents and visitors to explore different parts of the area while celebrating Portsmouth’s character and creativity.

One of the sculptures can be found at Port Solent, where it provides a colourful focal point for visitors enjoying the marina, shops and restaurants. The Port Solent lion is part of the wider trail, giving people another opportunity to discover the sculptures while exploring the area.

The Pride of Lions has quickly become a talking point, with residents and visitors stopping to admire the artwork, take photographs and discover the stories behind the individual sculptures.

Organisers hope the trail will leave a lasting legacy from Portsmouth 100, showcasing local creativity while encouraging people to explore and celebrate the city and its communities.

With the lions standing proudly across Portsmouth until 13th September, the Pride of Lions is helping make the centenary celebrations a colourful reminder of the city’s past, present and future.
